Artist's statement
Most of my papier mâché pieces in the past have been inspired by comic
situations and to me, the medium seems perfect for comedy. An idea for an
exhibition may come from a character study or a comical situation; or, if it
is a commission for a particular placement, I try to make connections with
that place.
When developing ideas for an exhibition, I do not restrict myself to
the obvious comical side of the theme, but also consider the darker
aspects that might appear, as in "Anything for a Laugh" or "Let's keep
dancing".
